Service

Construction Applied Engineering, Inc. is an established firm providing services for the construction industry with non-destructive testing (NDT), destructive testing and investigation of structures made of concrete, masonry, steel, wood, and non-structural monuments. Some common field testing includes:

  • ASTM C1383 and C597 for determining the thickness and internal flaws in concrete
such as voids, cracks, delamination, etc.
  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for locating steel embedded items such as reinforcing
steel, post-tension strands, wire mesh, and electrical conduit.
  • In-place shear and compressive testing, detection of reinforcement and footing
    investigation of masonry elements.
  • Anchor proof load tests in concrete and masonry.
  • Hardness and chemical testing of steel elements for material strength verification.
  • Wood structural and material property testing (in the field and lab).
  • Material sampling for lab testing.

For locating sub-surface embedded items in concrete for the purposes of anchor placement or penetration through the members, or if the design engineers/architects need to determine the structural integrity of new and existing structures, CAE Inc. can provide the answers. For existing structures required for renovation to meet updated building codes and/or for seismic upgrade, CAE Inc. has the capability to perform non-destructive testing, selective demolition, material test sampling, field documentation, and laboratory testing and analysis as required under an approved material testing and investigation program. Overview of NDT methods are described in the NDT Summary page.

CAE, Inc. also offers engineering consultation related to testing, inspection and evaluation of building products for code compliance and R&D purposes.
